Geoffrey Girard writes nonfiction,
thrillers, historicals, and speculative fiction from fantasy to
horror. His first book TALES OF THE JERSEY DEVIL, thirteen original
stories based on American folklore, was published in 2005. Simon and Schuster published two Girard novels simultaneously in 2013:
CAIN'S BLOOD, a techno thriller, and PROJECT CAIN, a
companion novel for teen/YA readers nominated for a Bram
Stoker award for "Superior Achievement in a Young Adult Novel."
Girard also co-writes, and ghostwrites, memoirs and nonfiction
(including The New York Times bestseller THE
MIDWEST SURVIVIAL GUIDE for Harper Collins) and
has published work-for-hire fiction (from middle grade to westerns) under various
pen
names. In 2019, Hanover Square Press (St. Martin's
Press)
published AFRICAN SAMURAI: The True Story of Yasuke, a
Legendary Black Warrior in Feudal Japan co-written
with Thomas Lockley, and optioned for film in 2020.
His short fiction has appeared in several best-selling anthologies and magazines,
including Writers of the Future and the Stoker-nominated Dark Faith
anthology. The debut collection of his short fiction,
first communions, was published by Apex Books in
2016.
In 2021,
he launched Ellipses Media
(producing content for print, online, theatre, and film) and
Ellipses Press, a publishing house of memoirs and social/political
nonfiction.
Born in Germany and shaped in New Jersey,
Geoffrey currently writes and teaches in Ohio where he is Writer in
Residence at Archbishop Moeller High School. Prior to teaching, he
worked as a reporter and advertising copywriter. He has a BA
(Washington College) and MA (Miami University) in English literature
and an MFA in creative writing (Miami University). He has presented
and led workshops on creative writing at schools, bookstores and
various writers' conventions/events.
